It is with a growing desire to share the blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science that I write my testimony.

I was brought up in an orthodox religious home. From the age of six until fourteen I was given Bible training. Then the youngest child in the family passed on, and my father, who had been a devoutly religious man, blamed God for it and became an atheist. This made a very deep impression on me, and I too dropped all matters pertaining to religion, finding it impossible to believe that God was some sort of corporeal being dwelling beyond known space. What a revelation it is to study Mary Baker Eddy's definition of God as found on page 465 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

About twenty-one years ago my health began to fail. After I had doctored for about two years, my ailment was diagnosed as thyroid trouble, and I was advised to submit to an immediate operation. This verdict increased my fear, and I began to cast around for some other solution. I went to a specialist who had perfected a serum that was supposed to be beneficial. So, for the next seven years my faith in this specialist and his serum sustained me, but off and on my health was gradually getting worse. During the next three years the serum treatments lost their seeming efficacy, and then I really began to despair. I visited a number of doctors, stomach specialists, went through the clinic of a large hospital three different times, and even went to a psychiatrist twice a week for a period, all with no beneficial results. I did not have a peaceful moment day or night. My difficulty was diagnosed as nervous exhaustion, and I wished many times that I would not awaken the next morning.
