I owe my well-being entirely...
I owe my well-being entirely to the healing efficacy of Christian Science, having been healed of many ills. Through the study of this Science I have learned that one must not permit evil to enter one's consciousness, and that knowing the truth about God and man will eliminate every discordant condition.
A number of years ago I contracted gangrene in one of my legs and was forced to give up my profession as a dancer. Well-known doctors advised an immediate amputation, because it seemed that there was no hope that they could save my leg. Just prior to this trouble, however, I had become interested in Christian Science, and I decided to trust myself to the care of my Maker. A dear friend and practitioner took my case, and within three months the healing came, though the disease had eaten through to the bone of my leg.
I have also been healed of sciatic rheumatism, the first attack of which had kept me confined to a hospital for months. The second attack came after I had become a Christian Scientist. Although it was a more serious one, it was overcome within a few weeks. Mrs. Eddy states in the Christian Science textbook (p. 475), "Man is idea, the image, of Love; he is not physique."
