A Contribution We All Can Make

In no single particular is the Church of Christ, Scientist, more unique than in the balance which it maintains between theory and practice. In order to be a genuine Christian Scientist one must, therefore, not only understand the teachings of Mary Baker Eddy, but he must also give proof of his ability to practice what he knows. While all who have accepted her teachings cannot be expected to devote their entire time to the healing ministry, yet no one who has received any benefit from Christian Science is without opportunity to give thanks publicly and frequently for such blessings.

Prior to the institution of our testimony meetings, the only means that individuals had of spreading the good news that they had been healed in Christian Science was either by word of mouth or through testimonies written for our periodicals. When our Leader saw the need of a still wider field of publicity for such cases of healing, she established the Wednesday testimony meetings.

Under the subtitle "Testimonials" found in Article VIII, Section 24, of the Manual of The Mother Church Mrs. Eddy has written in part as follows: "'Glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's' (St. Paul). Testimony in regard to the healing of the sick is highly important. More than a mere rehearsal of blessings, it scales the pinnacle of praise and illustrates the demonstration of Christ, 'who healeth all thy diseases' (Psalm 103:3)."
