The Christian Science practitioner to whom I went in an hour of great need quoted to me these outstanding lines by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, from "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (pp. 149, 150): "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee. Therefore despair not nor murmur, for that which seeketh to save, to heal, and to deliver, will guide thee, if thou seekest this guidance."

When Christian Science was presented to me, my health was very poor. The doctor had left orders for me to wean my baby and take a complete rest.

A Christian Scientist in an adjoining apartment saw my need and lovingly supplied it; she lent me a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by our Leader, and took me to church in her car. I read on the flyleaf of our textbook (p iii), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John viii. 32." The chapter on Prayer was to me an outstanding promise that all things are possible to God. Numerous healings were effected through my reading of this beautiful chapter, the very first one being that of an attack of croup experienced by my six-months-old son. When, two months later, the symptoms returned, I again studied this beautiful chapter on Prayer, and the healing was instantaneous and permanent.
