The fact that Christian Science is an exact Science and applicable to every human need has been proved many times in my experience, and for this I am deeply grateful. A healing which I experienced in connection with dentistry proved that material sense testimony was false, and could be corrected by an understanding of the spiritual facts of being. The dentist told me that some teeth were in a bad condition and he would have to take an X ray before he began the work. I immediately refused to accept the testimony of the material senses as the fact about man. I knew that no discordant material pictures could be present in the consciousness of Spirit, where all is forever perfect. I saw clearly that whatever material sense said or pictured never had touched and never could touch man's true identity. I had no fear. The photograph was taken, and the following day the dentist showed me the X ray. He said he was very much surprised to see that the teeth were perfectly clean and sound. I left, rejoicing in the lovely sense of freedom and liberation from material laws which Christian Science healing always brings.

I learned a precious lesson through a healing of wrong thinking, when the suggestion to think materially and not in accord with divine Science persistently presented itself to my consciousness. The suggestion was strong that I was free to think as I liked, and that if I did think wrongly now I could do otherwise later on. I recognized this as a temptation, and knew that I should have to understand and see its unreality and powerlessness, or I could not overcome it. During the day I struggled first on one side, then on the other, with no peace at all, until I was reminded of a sentence by Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 393), "A false belief is both the tempter and the tempted, the sin and the sinner, the disease and its cause."

Gradually I perceived that wrong thinking was no part of my true selfhood, that man can know nothing aside from infinite Mind, which he reflects, that he is governed solely by divine Principle, Love, and has no personal mind of his own. The belief that he has, is all that can be destroyed; it is the truth about man and his relationship to God which effectually does this, not any human effort or will. As these truths were pondered, the discord lessened until suddenly the mesmerism broke. The whole error fell away like an old garment, and I stepped forth free as a little child, with no desire but to accent and find fullest satisfaction in the abundance of good bestowed on man by his heavenly Father, divine Mind. The healing came naturally by the action of Truth on mortal mind, in spite of this so-called mind's seeming power and persistence.
