Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

BURBANK, CALIFORNIA (First Church).

Three services held on Sunday, July 1, 1945, in First Church of Christ, Scientist, marked the dedication of the church edifice.

The first Christian Science services in Burbank were held on April 1, 1923. These services marked as successful the efforts of a small group of Christian Scientists who, late in 1922, resolved to form a Christian Science organization in this city.

This group was recognized as a Christian Science Society by The Mother Church in Boston in September, 1923, and as First Church of Christ, Scientist, Burbank, in August, 1925.

On April 1, 1940, the construction of a church edifice at Third and San Jose Streets was commenced, and in August of the same year the first services in the new church were held.

In 1942, increased Sunday school enrollment made necessary the building of a Sunday school annex, which was completed and out of debt by May 31 of that year.
