Individual Demonstration of Supply

The question of supply to meet daily needs engages the earnest thinking of many people. The legitimate quest for supply, however, is all too often undertaken in the mistaken belief that supply is a material thing, to be gained through one's own labors or through the labor and generosity of others. Christian Science shows supply to be wholly spiritual.

In "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy gives a definite and provable method of demonstrating supply where she says (p. 307): "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies. Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment."

A student of Christian Science once found herself without sufficient funds to meet her needs. Having been liberally provided for all her life by others, she had formed the habit of looking to person instead of to God for her supply. Now in her distress she earnestly sought an understanding of supply as Christian Science explains it, and began to ponder the foregoing quotation. It suddenly became quite clear to her that she had been looking for supply in exactly the wrong direction, seeking it through human ways and means, and that it had been eluding her frantic grasp. Now quite clearly she saw for the first time that spiritual ideas, when accepted and utilized, govern the human experience; that since God gives His ideas impartially and constantly, there is never a moment when man is separated from supply.
