Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Florence, California (First Church).

Dedication services were held in the morning and afternoon on Sunday, August 5.1945, in First Church of Christ, Scientist, Florence, at 1845 East Seventy-first Street. At both services a brief history of the church was read.

First Church of Christ, Scientist, had its beginning in 1915, when a few students of Christian Science began meeting in private homes for the reading of the Lesson-Sermons. In 1917, a small storeroom was rented at 1708 East Florence Avenue, and the services were opened to the public. Organization as a society had been effected in 1916, and provision was later made for a Reading Room at the same location.
