Love Ensures Awakening

Has the thought come to you that we, together with thousands of others of many nationalities, ages, and types who are studying Christian Science, are studying exact Science, which will bring all men into the oneness of infinite Mind? And because it is exact Science, and because we seem to grasp the truth only gradually, it follows that we shall benefit in proportion to our developing ability to understand and apply its rules.

Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered this absolute spiritual truth, Christian Science, tells us that this will be so. On page 261 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" she writes, "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts."

To one student of Christian Science who prayerfully pondered this awakening of men to the truth of being, there came a deeper understanding of God as Love, and with this a fuller grasp of the meaning of the words of our Leader (ibid., p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." The consciousness of Love's allness, revealed to us by the Christ, the true idea of God and man, excludes any false sense of life and man. Jesus did not give his followers any hope or expectation that the way would be humanly easy, and neither did Mrs. Eddy. But both did promise that every individual could and would rise out of the illusion of the existence of evil, and both proved that the human need is always met. Christ Jesus healed the sick and fed the multitude. He admitted that in the world there would be tribulation, but he urged (John 16:33), "Be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."
