"Rejoice in the Lord"

The Rev. James Reid, D. D. British Weekly, London, England

St. Paul bids us rejoice, and emphasizes his words. His message has real point. Perhaps he was thinking of glum-faced Christians, of whom there were no doubt many then, as there are today. Nothing so discredits our Christian faith as gloom or moroseness. The world will never be drawn to a Christianity that does not make us happy, which is perhaps the reason why some of us are such poor advertisements of our gospel. If we are really Christians, we ought to be joyful.
