I thank God that He led me to Christian Science. Thirst after Truth brought me to this Science twenty years ago. During the first fifteen years I had many beautiful experiences and my faith in its pure teaching steadily increased.

At the outbreak of the recent war, it became evident that my understanding of Truth was insufficient. I saw clearly how divine Love was meeting my every need in the many difficulties that presented themselves, but I still had various preconceived ideas which were causing me great distress. This discordant mental condition became manifested physically in definite symptoms of tuberculosis of the lungs. I felt that unless I got hold of myself, I should pass on in a few days. The work of a Christian Science practitioner saved me, and after ten days I was able to return to my office.

Six months later, when I went to live in another country, the public health officer there found by taking X-ray pictures that I had formerly suffered from tuberculosis, and I was required to have regular examinations for a year to see whether the healing was permanent. The doctor who examined me would not believe that I had been healed in ten days. However, the succeeding X-ray examinations (the only medical care given me) proved to him that the healing was complete.
