Childlikeness

When Christ Jesus counseled his followers (Matt. 18:3), "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven," he commended the faithful trust that little ones have in their parents, as well as their humble living of those simple qualities which endear them to our hearts.

A child remarked to his parents, "I am happiest when I make you happy." This simple statement hints the joy, satisfaction, and peace which belong to him who glorifies his heavenly Father. Let us therefore earnestly consider several of the qualities of childlikeness, those immortal attributes which bless and heal.

Purity is predominant, for it underlies love of good, strengthens faith, and nurtures growth in grace. The pure in heart see and realize more clearly the allness of God, His presence, power, and glory, and this perception is evidenced by their kindness, patience, and humility. Through purity we attain the higher concept, the wider vision, the loving incentive, the consecrated accomplishment. Truly, purity is to be cherished and practiced.
