Indivisibility of Good

The supreme remedy for personal, national, and racial feuds which disrupt human relations is indicated by Mary Baker Eddy in her statement in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p.335), "Spirit is the only substance, the invisible and indivisible infinite God." This spiritual fact is the basis on which to establish unity of purpose and method in family life, industry, national and international government. The substance of Spirit and the indivisibility of God, good, likewise provide for the healing of disease and deliverance from obdurate sin and distressing fears.

When a still inexperienced Christian Science practitioner boarded the train in response to a call from an anxious mother in behalf of what seemed a very sick boy, she wandered for a few moments in the haze of personal sense, wondering if her limited knowledge of good would be adequate to heal this case. Mental wandering begets fruitless wondering. Whilst she was doubtfully appraising the adequacy of her morsel of understanding, the quoted passage was recalled, and the word "indivisible" stood out in bold relief. Promptly the novice recognized that the measure of spiritual understanding of good which she had thus far gained through Christian Science could not be cut off from the one "invisible and indivisible infinite God." The egotistic notion that a person was on the way to heal another person faded in the radiant light of Love and Life.
