To Christian Science and to...
To Christian Science and to those who have helped me to work out my problems, I owe unbounded gratitude for the only health, strength, and happiness I have ever known. As a result of an instantaneous healing of sick headaches, which I experienced in my early childhood, my faith in the efficacy of Christian Science was established, and never since that time have I had any desire for medical remedies.
I have experienced many physical healings, including those of tonsillitis, influenza, double pneumonia, jaundice, sprains, burns, a severe case of inflammatory rheumatism, and an acute attack of dysentery. I have also had many proofs of Love's provision and supply and have been beautifully protected from injury.
Some years ago, while crossing a busy intersection, I found myself caught in a traffic jam. A hasty glance revealed that I was completely surrounded by vehicles of all kinds, leaving no way of escape. A horse, a few yards away, had become unmanageable and was coming toward me. Several women and children who were caught in the same spot screamed in fright. I turned unreservedly to God for help and immediately the thought came to me, "Divine Love surrounds me, Life enfolds me, and nothing can penetrate this mantle of infinite protection." For a few moments I seemed to lose all consciousness of what was going on about me. When I again became aware of my surroundings the traffic was clearing away in all directions and those of us who had been caught in that predicament reached the safety zone unharmed.
