In the fifteenth chapter of Exodus...

In the fifteenth chapter of Exodus we read that Moses and the children of Israel gave thanks and praise to God for deliverance from their oppressors. On page 566 of Science and Health, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, beautifully describes the analogy between the passage of the children of Israel out of bondage and the progress of those who in the present day are turning to God, Soul, for spiritual guidance. I should like to express my gratitude for freedom from the bondage of many mortal beliefs.

My first deliverance came when my husband was receiving his third treatment by a Christian Science practitioner for tuberculosis. At that time my husband said the practitioner had told him that if we took medicine we were worshiping false gods. I had five bottles of homeopathic pills, which I destroyed and from that day, many years ago, I have relied entirely on Christian Science for healing. During the seventh treatment my husband was permanently healed of tuberculosis and enjoyed many years of health and strength.

Five months later, during the great earthquake and fire in San Francisco, we enjoyed wonderful protection. Our home was somewhat damaged but not destroyed, and it proved a haven for some of the distressed. We were supplied bountifully, so we had plenty to share with others.
