I have had many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science, and I sincerely hope that this testimony will benefit those who read it.

I should like to tell of a healing I experienced recently. At the time I was studying our Lesson-Sermon on "Reality," from the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I had suffered many years from hemorrhoids, and after my first healing in Christian Science eleven years ago this condition improved greatly, but it had again become quite painful. Mortal mind argued that the only way I could obtain relief would be to have an operation, but as I read the Lesson the thought came to me that if I did need an operation God could perform it, for He was my only physician and had always provided for my every need.

I was reading from the Psalms (73:1, 24-26): "Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. ... Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever." I turned to page 71 of Science and Health and read: "Nothing is real and eternal.—nothing is Spirit,—but God and His idea. Evil has no reality. It is neither person, place, nor thing, but is simply a belief, an illusion of material sense. The identity, or idea, of all reality continues forever; but Spirit, or the divine Principle of all, is not in Spirit's formations." As I read I experienced an unusual sensation throughout my body. I laid my books down and reclined in the chair, and a moment later I resumed my study of the Lesson.
