I feel that really to express my gratitude for all the blessings I have received, I should do so through our periodicals. "Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" (Psalms 107:8.)

For several years previous to 1928, when I first began to study Christian Science, I had been watching my friends who were interested in it, and saw that they were happier than other people, and that things generally went more smoothly for them. One of my office associates let his light shine so brightly that it made me want to purchase a copy of the Christian Science textbook. "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I did.

When I was told by a doctor that I needed an operation, the prospect was terrifying to me. After the fear subsided, the thought came to me: "Why not try Christian Science? I have heard so much about what it can do, why not try it?" The next day I got in touch with a practitioner, and walked several blocks to see her. I had constant pain in my side and it seemed a long walk, but on the way back I seemed to be walking on air. It was at that time I took up the study of Christian Science earnestly. I never had the operation, and the healing is complete.
