Wise Men, Awake!
Pierce
through the darkness, star of Bethlehem!
Scatter this cloud of apathy and gloom,
For there are many hearts would give Christ room,
Except the darkness is too great for them.
The world would leave the chaos of its ways
Could it but see this star ashine, undimmed,
Could it interpret the angelic hymn—
The promise it contains of peace and praise.
Wise men, awake! Behold this holy light!
What if the desert miles lie thick between?
Journey until you hear the angels sing
Of peace on earth, and with that song unite;
For east and west, the unseen and the seen,
Must ultimately own the Lord Christ King.
