Freedom

John and Peter in the prison pent,
And Paul with sting of viper, knew
There was for them no real imprisonment,
No power apart from God. They drew
On infinite Love, a host omnipotent.

So in the fiery furnace of human thought
We shall not falter, knowing God is near;
Nor is His presence ever to be sought—
The fatherhood is manifestly here,
His angels freeing us from every fear.
No serpent tongue or prison cell can keep
His love from us, for it is everywhere—
Our dear protection when we wake or sleep.
