The interesting column, "Merriman Round-up," recently quoted some incorrect remarks concerning Christian Science healing which were made by a member of the Commons Social Security Committee.

The prayers of Christian Science practitioners are not the repetition of formulas. The use of formulas is expressly forbidden under Article VIII, Section 9, of the Church Manual of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, by Mary Baker Eddy: "No member shall use written formulas, nor permit his patients or pupils to use them, as auxiliaries to teaching Christian Science or for healing the sick."

Like ministers of other denominations, registered Christian Science practitioners pursue no other vocation or profession, but devote their whole time to the healing ministry. Ministers do not make charges, for they are paid a salary by their churches, whereas Christian Science practitioners receive no salary. Christ Jesus said, "The labourer is worthy of his hire."
