Extra Bible Lesson

The schedule of Lesson-Sermons for the Christian Science Quarterly for the current year requires an extra Lesson in the October-December issue because there are fifty-three Sundays in the year rather than the usual fifty-two. For this extra Lesson, which is the one for December 24, the subject "Christ Jesus" has been approved by the Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society and concurred in by The Christian Science Board of Directors.

For Better Support of the Armed Forces

At hundreds of training stations and in some theaters of operation, the Christian Science Wartime Minister, the Christian Science Officiating Minister, or the volunteer Christian Science Wartime Worker has become a familiar figure as friend, counselor, and practitioner to men and women in the service. Although civilians, these workers are permitted to function within the military areas because they can give evidence that their services are desired and needed by those in the forces whose religion is Christian Science. The Ministers' and Workers' scope and effectiveness depend much on the co-operation of the Field, for it is from the Field that the names and addresses of servicemen and servicewomen who would welcome their assistance are received.

The names and addresses of American and Canadian servicemen and servicewomen who are adherents of Christian Science may be submitted by relatives or friends to the Camp Welfare Representative or clerk of any branch church or society, or may be sent directly to:
Manager, Camp Welfare Activities
107 Falmouth Street
Boston IS, Massachusetts

When a transfer occurs, the serviceman's new address should be sent in promptly by his family or friends.

Information concerning those in any branch of the British service should be sent to:
Lt. Col. Robert E. Key
District Manager of Committees on Publication
Donington House, Norfolk Street, Strand
London, W. C. 2, England

Names and addresses of men and women in the Australian and New Zealand forces may be given to the clerk of any branch church or society in those countries.

A serviceman can usually learn whether there is a Christian Science Minister, volunteer Worker, or a chaplain of the Christian Science denomination in his area by inquiring of the commanding officer at his post, of his regimental or post chaplain, a Red Cross worker, or the nearest Christian Science Reading Room; or, of course, by writing to the address given above which is nearest his station. Those desiring information concerning or help from a Minister or Worker should not hesitate to ask for it.

Membership Notice

Applications for membership in The Mother Church are acted upon by The Christian Science Board of Directors, twice each year, as provided for by the Manual of The Mother Church, Article XIII, Section 2.

The next date for the admission of applicants in The
Mother Church is November 3, 1944. Applications must
reach the Clerk on or before Monday, October 2, 1944.

A letter of acknowledgment is sent to each applicant whose application is received by the Clerk, but this letter does not signify that he has been admitted to membership. When his application has been duly acted upon by the Board of Directors, he is notified promptly by the Clerk of the action taken.

If an application has been forwarded and within a reasonable length of time, the applicant has not received acknowledgment, he is invited to make inquiry of the Clerk before forwarding a second application. This procedure avoids possible duplication of applications. However, applications received during the month immediately preceding the date of the current admission to membership will not be acknowledged until after that admission.

Application blanks for membership in The Mother Church are obtainable at Christian Science Reading Rooms and from clerks of branch churches and societies. Applications may always be obtained from Miss Mary G. Ewing, Clerk. 107 Falmouth Street, Boston 15, Massachusetts.

Testimonies

Convincing testimonies of Christian Science healing are welcome. Each testimony should be verified by three members of The Mother Church who know of the healing or can vouch for the integrity of the testifier. If the testifier is not acquainted with three members, his affidavit may be sufficient, but in this case he should, if possible, obtain verification from one or two members. The testifier himself should obtain the verifications and submit them with the testimony. Complete addresses of the testifier and his vouchers should always be furnished.
