It is with humility and gratitude...
It is with humility and gratitude to God that I testify to the benefits that my family and I have experienced since Christian Science was presented to us. At that time everything that could have happened to our household had occurred, including loss of a position and an automobile accident. I remember that it seemed as though I could not pray, that the bottom had dropped out of everything. An acquaintance, knowing nothing of these difficulties, one day brought me some Christian Science Sentinels to read. When my husband and I read them the mist of despair lifted, and we were able to think clearly, to pray. We realized that Christian Science was that for which we had been seeking. From then on I studied and read earnestly in order to understand more. It was not long after this that all our affairs were rightly adjusted, and we knew that Truth alone was responsible for this harmonious outcome. This occurred ten years ago. Since that time we have placed complete reliance on God.
We have been healed of many unpleasant traits of character of long standing. Physical ailments, when seen to be no part of man's real being, have faded into nothingness. After I had smoked for twenty-two years, I was healed of this habit in three days through realizing the meaning of Mrs. Eddy's words in "Retrospection and Introspection," on page 63: "When we deny the authority of sin, we begin to sap it; for this denunciation must precede its destruction." I have recovered lost articles when I have realized that there is no matter to lose. Loss is never more than seeming separation from a spiritual quality or idea, and when I have seen how utterly impossible it is for man, who expresses the wholeness of Mind, to be separated from Mind or a quality of Mind, the articles have been recovered.
I am deeply grateful for Christian Science and to Mrs. Eddy for giving it to us. I know that only through absolute reliance on God can the world be healed. My prayer is that I may do my part by being faithful to the Science that Christ Jesus practiced, and that Mrs. Eddy has discovered and given to mankind in her writings.—(Mrs.) Wilhelmina P. Erdman, Bronxville, New York.
