In 1917, Christian Science came into my life in answer to prayer to God for another person, who was healed through Science treatment. I bought the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and read it occasionally, but it was not until 1925 that I really turned to Christian Science for help, because I was unhappy.

I had been brought up in a religious atmosphere, yet I had become an unbeliever. Christian Science turned me back to the Bible and gave me a concept of God I could reasonably accept, thus completely changing my outlook on life.

For years I had lived on medicine and suffered much. In studying the Christian Science textbook, I suddenly saw why the doctors had failed to help me. I threw away all medicine and have never tasted it since. Constant bronchial colds, bilious attacks, and other complaints gradually ceased. A poisoned finger and an abscessed tooth were both instantaneously healed when I was alone at night. I was healed of an abscess in my side, and I am grateful for the practitioner's stand for Principle. Faults of disposition have been overcome, also social smoking and drinking; a better understanding of universal Love has been gained, and an ability to do things I never thought possible.
