Christian Science has opened the door of hope, joy, and courage to me, and it is my desire to share my gratitude that the door may open for others. When Christian Science came to my notice I had spent much thought and study on many philosophies and religions, looking for something to cure me of the melancholy and skepticism I had acquired from observation of what seemed to be the nature of man.

Attendance at my first Sunday service in a Christian Science church established in me a greater sense of peace and quiet than I had ever known. While I did not understand it, I knew that something important had happened to me. During the weeks and months which followed I watched my mother's healing through Christian Science. The doctor had given her but one year to live because of a heart condition, a severe nervous breakdown, and yellow jaundice, all of which left her weak and, worst of all, with sight so impaired that her vision was double and she was unable to get about alone. With the help of practitioners, and study, gradually but definitely improvement was manifested, until within a year she was able to take up an active business life; and she has been active ever since. That occurred over twenty years ago.

At this time I had the privilege of attending Sunday school, and increasingly realized that Christian Science was the ideal which I had been searching for—but more than that, the ideal which would enable me to prove God's active goodness and man's oneness with God and His goodness.
