Your readers may be interested in a further explanation of the teachings of Christian Science, particularly on some of the points mentioned in your recent issue under the caption, "Emotional Factor Causes Many Ills." The import of this caption and the article developing it, is that bodily disorders are produced by mental disturbances. The writer states: "That is the truth at the bottom of Christian Science. In practice it works swell. I use it—every doctor uses it every day."

This recognition by an experienced physician of the mental nature of physical disease adds one more bit of evidence to the growing tide of such deductions. Experience confirms this conclusion. Christian Science was discovered by Mary Baker Eddy after many years of searching for just that truth. She relates, in her autobiographical sketch, "Retrospection and Introspection" (p. 24): "The discovery came to pass in this way. During twenty years prior to my discovery I had been trying to trace all physical effects to a mental cause; and in the latter part of 1866 I gained the scientific certainty that all causation was Mind, and every effect a mental phenomenon."
