In my study and practice of...
In my study and practice of Christian Science, covering a considerable period of time, I have upon many occasions witnessed the healing and saving grace in demonstration of Mary Baker Eddy's inspired statements of truth.
Many physical healings have come to me throughout the years. One stands out in memory as a shining example of the value of adherence to Mrs. Eddy's inspired counsel. As a youth, I was a student of art, later engaging in the profession of illustration. At school, where my studies included the ways and means of publicity, I was impressed with the belief that self-expression and self-exploitation were inseparable. This led to the creation of a personal following. I must have "my public," I thought. I believed such publicity pointed to the only road to success. It filled me with pride of achievement to see so much of my art work appearing daily in the press of the nation. I felt satisfied that "my public" was receiving full value.
Then Christian Science was presented to me in time of urgent physical need. I was healed of headaches of long standing. A depleted body was restored to normalcy. Through the loving ministrations of Christian Science my pride in the exhibition of an artistic temperament was humbled. For the first time in my life I had a painless, healthy body. My business prospered. And in my gratitude for Christian Science I wanted to go all the way with it.
