When I had studied Christian Science...
When I had studied Christian Science for about seven years I submitted my first testimony, which was published in the Christian Science Sentinel. It recounted many physical healings in my family, as well as the gratitude I felt for the discovery of this great truth. Now, after thirty years, I am sending another, bearing further witness to the joy that has been mine through applying the practical teachings of Mary Baker Eddy and the deep truths of the Bible.
Many and far-reaching have been the corrections of thought and the subsequent healings that have come to me and my family. Physical and financial distress, discordant family and business relations, as well as sorrow and separation, have been healed. Since our first acceptance of Science it has been the universal panacea in our home. The children were taught to apply and rely on the operation of divine Principle in every situation and problem that faced them. No other aid was ever given for childhood ailments, accidents, or the so-called more serious conditions, than that afforded by Christian Science. Now that they have grown into healthy and happy young manhood and womanhood and gone from the home shelter, two of them have become church members.
Science was presented to me while I was on a visit to New York, seeking health for my eldest girl, who had been a semi-invalid for some years as a result of vaccination. An attack of illness, more alarming than anything she had before experienced, caused relatives to advise that I seek treatment for her from a Christian Science practitioner. My previous unhappy experiences with material medica led me to accept this as a forlorn hope. My sorrow was turned into joy and my mourning into praise, for she received an immediate healing, which has been followed by years of good health and usefulness to herself and others. To me it brought the knowledge of God as Love, knowledge for which I had longed since childhood. From that hour my heart was set on this truth, and I have sincerely striven not to deviate from my best understanding of its unfoldment as the years since then have passed.
