When Christian Science was...

When Christian Science was presented to me I prayed that God would show me whether I was doing the right thing in embracing this new religion. Upon examination I could see that this teaching followed the Ten Commandments closely, and therefore my common sense told me it must be right.

Of its effectiveness as a healing power I soon learned. Within a short time after I took up its study, I was reaching for a pan on my pantry shelf, when I dislodged a vessel with a pointed edge, which fell and struck me on the head. The result were terrifying, and I needed immediate help. Various suggestions presented themselves, but then came the thought of God and Christian Science. I turned completely to God in prayer. My healing was instantaneous. I am glad to say that I was able to attend to business that day and to entertain friends in the evening.

It became necessary for me to give up the business in which I was engaged. The practitioner pointed out to me that this was a step of progress to something better. Some time passed, during which I was unable to obtain employment and was becoming a burden to my family. However, I persisted day and night in the study of the Lesson-Sermon and also of Science and Health. This study resulted in a turn of events. A member of my family approached me concerning the opening of a new store. I called on the practitioner who had worked frequently for me during those trying days. I asked her how I should know what was my right place. She reassured me that in infinite Love we find perfect direction and protection. With this thought I ventured forth and found a desirable location that day. The store has proved satisfactory for all concerned.
