In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy states (p. 425): "Consciousness constructs a better body when faith in matter has been conquered. Correct material belief by spiritual understanding, and Spirit will form you anew." These words have been proved true in my own experience.

Seventeen years ago a motor car ran into the rear of my bicycle. I was taken to a hospital, where my head was stitched up and a shoulder set. Within a week an acquaintance called at my home and left a copy of The Christian Science Journal. This I read out of courtesy to my friend.

As the motorist's insurance company was threatening proceedings against me, my father consulted a solicitor, but witnesses could not be found on my behalf, and financial loss seemed imminent.
