Excerpts from Letters Concerning Christian Science Wartime Activities

[From Christian Science Wartime Committee in the United Kingdom]

A visiting chaplain of a large hospital, who is working with the Christian Science almoner, told of a man who he considered was about to pass on and whose family was in dire poverty. The chaplain requested that the family be visited, as it would relieve the man's mind. This the almoner did at once, giving not only clothing, but hope, compassion, and cheer. The family immediately responded, and the man became well enough to leave the hospital. His son, who had been missing for fifteen months, was reported safe and a prisoner of war, and the man began to read Science and Health and says, "I am better in every way than I have been for twenty-five years."
