Christianity offers us all things stable. It offers us eternity instead of time. It gives us love that is unchanging. It makes little of sorrow and nothing of death. It tells us that life is permanent. It grants peace to its followers in the place of unrest and dissension. It is the great constancy, our strength and our deliverance.

One of the whipmen in the realm of mortality is the sense of time. Endlessly the clocks tick out slow seconds. And endlessly the calendars speak of vanishing years whose feet were shod with swiftness. Man is told that he is born to die.
