I have had many proofs of God's care since I took up the study of Christian Science, and I am grateful to the practitioners, who are ever ready to help us and show us how to apply the truth.

Recently I was healed of a severe attack of influenza and was able to return to my office after being away for only two days. The symptoms were so painful and seemed so serious that when relief came within three quarters of an hour after work was taken up by a Christian Science practitioner, it seemed like a miracle.

After this healing, I found myself accepting occasional exhaustion and weakness as a matter of course. Suddenly I realized that I was believing I actually had had influenza and that these were the natural aftereffects. With this realization came the awakening to the fact that since man, the image of God, has never had any illness he cannot suffer any effects from it. Complete freedom followed immediately. Mortal mind would have us bear false witness against the past and indulge in thoughts of sorrow, pain, or remorse for something that never happened, but we learn in Christian Science that evil is not real and that we have never strayed beyond the Father's loving care or failed to express the completeness of man, made in God's image and likeness. False suggestions cannot mesmerize us for long if we are diligent and faithful in our study of Christian Science.
