I have no desire to enter the lists as to the right or wrong of vaccination, about which much controversy rages even in the medical profession, but a speaker's allusion to Christian Scientists when speaking at a meeting of the Wharfedale Union Joint Hospital Board, as reported in your newspaper, puts the position of Christian Scientists in a wrong light.

The Christian Science view is different from that of all other therapeutic methods, for it is based, not on the physical, but on the spiritual. When understood and applied, the omnific nature of God is found to be sufficient to meet all contingencies.

Christian Scientists are not content to leave these matters for nature to work out. They employ themselves assiduously to protect themselves and others from the dangers of disease, and the methods they are taught afford them protection which has proved to be at least equal to any other method. In every instance where the law demands vaccination, Christian Scientists are requested to comply, and when the law so requires they are prompt in reporting every case of contagion to the proper authorities.
