A deep and abiding conviction...
A deep and abiding conviction that Christian Science is the truth, together with the substantial proofs that have come to me in over thirty-five years of studying this Science, discovered by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, impels me to give my testimony, with a paean of thanksgiving that a New Hampshire woman was so pure and unselfed that she discerned the positive rules underlying the Christ, Truth.
One of my first healings came about when I attempted to stop two dogs fighting. One dog blindly clamped my hand as in a vise. When I could free the hand, I managed to get into the house, and asked my mother to telephone a practitioner, covering my hand with a towel so that no one could see it. Although the condition of the hand was serious, I am grateful to say that with the work of the practitioner, the hand was normal in a week's time.
Because I was discouraged with my low marks, I left school; but several years later, after studying Christian Science, I felt that the right thing to do was to go on to higher education. The headmaster of an academy of high standing wired me not to come, but I presented myself to him, saying that I wanted the training he could give. He said I might try it for a while, and later I discovered my previous low marks had not been helpful to my cause.
