Twenty years ago, when I was troubled in body and mind, God in His goodness led my steps to a Christian Science Reading Room. Very soon afterward a copy of our textbook, Science and Health, written by our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, was lent to me and I began at once to read. I knew I had found the truth for which I had so long been searching.

I am encouraged now to send in this testimony of healing, not only from a deep sense of gratitude, but because such acknowledgments of the power and availability of Christian Science to heal all manner of diseases fit us to receive even greater blessings. Also, it is a small act of thankfulness for this experience to share it with others.

A bad form of whooping cough was prevalent in our town and I contracted it. It may seem a small thing, but it was not so to me. Though I was a new student of Christian Science and wanted to be healed through it, I was using material remedies and thought them necessary. I turned to a friend, a Christian Scientist, living a short distance away, and asked if she would give me help. She agreed to do so, and after a severe struggle with myself I threw away my medicines and took my stand solely on the side of Truth. Not long after this I found myself well and free. Later it came to me that not only had I been helped over the physical condition, but my need for sole reliance on Christian Science was met.
