I have so often derived inspiration...

I have so often derived inspiration from reading the testimonies in the Sentinel and Journal that I have come to the conclusion I should be ungrateful if I withheld an expression of gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. It was first presented to me by a friend, who related a wonderful healing that had been experienced by a friend of hers. This seemed so miraculous to me that I thought, Here is something I should like to know about. I bought a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. What I read was so reasonable that I immediately accepted it as the true concept of Christianity.

I soon had occasion to test the efficacy of Science. For many years I had been a victim of severe colds attended by fever. This time, instead of resorting to material remedies I called upon a practitioner for help. After the first treatment I was perfectly well, except for a slight feeling of having been sick. This freedom was so marvelous to me that except in a few instances, which were always soon regretted, Christian Science became my sole remedy.

Once when I had asked for treatment for a trouble of which I was very conscious, I read an article in The Christian Science Journal about the ark. It dawned on me that I had been trying to steady the ark of God. No wonder I was not getting my healing. I was then able to lift my thought and "rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good," as Mary Baker Eddy puts it in Science and Health (p. 393). My healing began the next afternoon. Oh, what a joy that was! It seemed to me I had never experienced such joy in all my life. I worked continually with this statement of our Leader's until my healing was complete.
