Jesus said, "Ye are the light of the world." In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 326), "If we wish to follow Christ, Truth, it must be in the way of God's appointing."

Visiting a man, one day, while I was searching for employment, I was challenged by him, "I suppose you would not accept a job on a water scow?" I replied, "Yes, I would," feeling that this was a God-given opportunity in reply to metaphysical work already done. So, despite the fact that the work was new to me and of a type I had never sought, I went to work at it the next morning. Since then I have had many wonderful experiences, the outgrowth of spiritual discernment. Things of which I was ignorant or which I had forgotten, I did intuitively.

An outstanding experience of protection occurred one Sunday noon. I was called upon to release a heavy rope, and both hands were trapped as it suddenly and unexpectedly tightened around a great iron cleat. I cried, "My God, help me." God instanty replied, and although my hands were imprisoned for a minute or so, and I felt distinctly the strands of the rope impressing themselves through my gloves, yet I felt no pain. Suddenly and unexpectedly the pressure was relieved, and I was free. My fellows stood speechless for a period. Then one asked, "Are you hurt?" Another commanded, "Take off your gloves," which I silently did. My hands and fingers were unharmed. Oh, how grateful I was for this instance of protection!
