Earthly Loss Is Heavenly Gain

To the mount of revelation
I ascend, and feel Thy power,
In the calmness and the stillness
Of the early morning hour.
When I talk to Thee, dear Father,
And in childlike trust just ask
Thee to guide, protect, and help me,
Lighter grows each daily task!

Oh, the joy of true submission,
Meek obedience to Thy will;
Oh, the strength which comes from hearing
Angel's whisper, Peace, be Still!

With the first faint streak of morning
Light I know Thy healing power;
And I take Thy presence with me
Through the day—through every hour!
There is much to do, dear Father,
May we learn each lesson well;
May we learn life's larger lessons,
Thus Thy love to mankind tell.

Be the task small, be it mighty,
Be it fraught with joy or pain,
May we follow where Thou leadest—
Earthly loss is heavenly gain!
