During infancy I was ill continually,...
During infancy I was ill continually, and my life was despaired of many times. As a child, I was afraid of everything and everyone, and consequently often had so-called children's diseases. As I grew to womanhood, I had better health for a time. Then an illness manifested itself which lasted five years, during which four operations were performed. After the last one, it was necessary to use a stomach pump for several weeks. At that time I weighed eighty-two pounds; even a sip of water caused suffering.
Christian Science was recommended to my family after I had been confined to my bed for nine months without anyone being able to converse with me because of severe sinking spells in which it was thought I might pass on. Also there was a fear of insanity.
How wonderful is the first touch of Truth! I was practically raised from the dead. It was a few months before I could take my place in the family circle. One by one material beliefs were given up and God's law was manifested. The following year I was able to finish my college course. In the succeeding years, all medical laws that had been laid down for me were broken, including the impossibility of motherhood.
