Freedom from Restriction
There is much talk today regarding restriction of travel and the lack of many desirable commodities. On all sides it would appear that desires are being frustrated, careers interrupted, and that limitation is in evidence. All this is brought about because of the need for the production of essential materials for use in the war effort.
While from a human standpoint it is right to cut all unnecessary expenditure and to lend to the government such sums as seem right and proper, Christian Scientists need to be alert lest they keep their gaze riveted on the human aspect and thus allow themselves to be mesmerized by the evidence of the senses.
What does our Leader say in this connection? On page 369 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" we read: "In proportion as matter loses to human sense all entity as man, in that proportion does man become its master. He enters into a diviner sense of the facts, and comprehends the theology of Jesus as demonstrated in healing the sick, raising the dead, and walking over the wave. All these deeds manifested Jesus' control over the belief that matter is substance, that it can be the arbiter of life or the constructor of any form of existence."
