"Take care of yourself!"
How often does this cheery, hortative farewell ring out! And is it not the last advice many mortals seem to heed? We hear these days such slogans as "Be kind to animals week;" but if someone were to suggest a "Be kind to yourself week," this might be considered the height of selfishness. In the light of Christian Science teachings, however, one finds that his first charge, his first patient if you will, is himself, and he must be cared for, nourished, and strengthened; his thought must be spiritualized, if he is to help and heal others. Says the Bard of Avon,
This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
