Church Dedications

Orland, California (Society). —Morning and afternoon services marking the dedication of the edifice of Christian Science Society, Orland, were held on Sunday, May 23, 1943. Christian Scientists from near-by towns and many local persons attended the services. A history of the society was read, which follows, in part:

"Twenty-two years ago, in February, 1921, a few students of Christian Science met together in one of their homes and organized Christian Science Society, Orland. Until the present building was completed, the members held regular services in various local buildings.

"In 1927 two lots were purchased on the corner of Third and Mill Streets, and in the fall of 1938 the members decided to take the necessary steps toward a church building. From then on, progress was rapid: actual building operations were started in January, 1939, and completed two months later. On Sunday, March 15, 1939, the first morning service was held in the church edifice.
