I wish to express my deep gratitude for God's loving protection and guidance throughout my life.

Through my mother's understanding of the ever-presence of God when I was only a year old, my brother, sister, parents, and I were all saved from a forest fire from which there seemed no escape. When I was three years of age I had what a well-known doctor called black diphtheria. He gave me three days to live, but God was my salvation. When a young boy of eleven, I was shot in the foot, but by turning to God I was freed from any poisoning, and a grand healing took place.

It was God who guided me to take up the study of Christian Science when I was twelve years old, for which I have never ceased to be grateful. Through the truth taught in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I have enjoyed good health, and been carried safely through accidents and dangerous experiences of various kinds.
