Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

San Bruno Herald

San Bruno, California (First Church).—Dedication services were held on Sunday, April 25, 1943, by First Church of Christ, Scientist, San Bruno, with a large congregation present at each of the two services.

The first service was held in the new church on January 25, 1942, and now the building, lot, and equipment are free from debt. Sunday's dedication services were made possible by many generous contributions to the building fund, and financial aid made available under the terms of the will of Selina C. Cornish, together with a grant from the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy.

In January, 1930, it was seen that there was need of a Christian Science Sunday School in this vicinity. A few members of the Burlingame church, who lived in San Bruno, met with the Board of Directors of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Burlingame, to consider this step. They were encouraged to form a Christian Science Society, which was recognized by The Mother Church in July, 1930. This society met in the old California Hall, which was later purchased.
