Throughout a great many years...

Throughout a great many years I have experienced much healing and protection through the application and study of this great Science, as explained in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Freedom from many claims of physical and moral bondage has been established through the realization of the ever-presence of God, and man's relationship to Him.

An experience which I had at one time is particularly reassuring. I had been working to overcome an aggressive type of physical discomfort, and a loving friend had been asked for help. The trouble grew in intensity during the day and evening. About nine o'clock that night I sat down again to study the beautiful Lesson-Sermon as outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly. The subject was, "Are Sin, Disease, and Death Real?" As I read, the thought came to me to consider the true intent of propaganda, subversive thinking, and so-called "fifth-column" efforts. Surely their only intent is to destroy our faith in fundamental and constitutional rights, which are based on divine Principle. From this I could see clearly that as we are steadfast and faithful to the power of right thinking, no false claims such as these have any power to mesmerize us.

Almost as the morning sun dispelling the fog and mists, the light of Truth uncovered the true nature of physical disturbances. They are "fifth-column" illusions that would try to replace the perfection of God's ideas with false claims about man. I could see that the only power the suggestion of discomfort could have over me would be in my own refusal to be steadfast and faithful to what I was sure was the truth; that is, the perfection of God and of man in His image and likeness.
