Keeping Spiritually Refreshed
Countless numbers are now learning the joy and wisdom of turning to God, divine Mind, for spiritual refreshment and regeneration. They are learning the advantage of frequently and prayerfully pondering the liberating and sustaining truth as taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus. Buffeted and wearied by illness, by perplexing problems in the home or in business, many the world over are turning to God for spiritual refreshment and revitalization, echoing the song of the Psalmist: "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God," that is, for infinite and ever-present good.
We who have learned something of the healing and sustaining power of God, as revealed through Christian Science, know that a most satisfying sense of spiritual refreshment and healing comes when we turn from the discords of mortal sense to the scientific truth of being. For, indeed, it is the illuminating power of Truth that sets us free from the miseries of mortal existence and enables us to experience here and now God's ever-present perfection, joy, health, harmony, and achievement.
Under the marginal topic "Uses of suffering," Mary Baker Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 322): "The sharp experiences of belief in the supposititious life of matter, as well as our disappointments and ceaseless woes, turn us like tired children to the arms of divine Love. Then we begin to learn Life in divine Science." And how good and how satisfying it is to gain clearer views of Life eternal, Life which knows only immutable harmony!
