With heartfelt gratitude I wish to testify to the many blessings and healings which I have received through the study and application of Christian Science.

I was not a strong girl, having suffered from childhood from a peculiar nerve trouble, which many doctors tried in vain to cure. Life seemed always to have been a struggle for me. All my sickness and suffering I accepted as God's will for me, and I tried to bear it patiently. I lost a great deal of time from school, and later from my work, often weeks at a time.

A few years after my marriage I had a complete nervous breakdown. After resting quietly in bed for five weeks I was able to be up again, but could do only light work. A puzzling heart condition caused me to faint from the least excitement, worry, or exertion; and for almost two years I was unable to walk even the short distance from my home to the road, without suffering from pain and shortness of breath. I became very much depressed, and often gave way to tears of self-pity and despair. I felt that I was a burden to my loved ones. For about four years my husband was without steady employment, and during that time he also became ill and had to undergo an operation, from which his recovery seemed very slow. We were steadily going into debt. This worried and depressed him, too, and made my condition worse. I began to feel bitter towards life. I believed that God had surely forsaken me. I ceased longing to get well and strong. I wished only to die; I had no desire to go on.
