I am very grateful for the many...
I am very grateful for the many blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science. Many years ago I expressed to a friend my desire to have some religion and a better knowledge of God. I was asked if I would care to read some literature on Christian Science, and was given a copy of the Sentinel, for which I shall ever be grateful. Christian Science has helped me both physically and financially at home and in the business world.
I should like to tell of an experience I had in healing an abscess. When I first noticed it I tried to know the truth about it, but it became larger each day. I asked for help from a practitioner, but received no immediate relief. About the third day I was forced, because of the terrible pain, to stay home from work. That morning I called the practitioner and told her, and she said she would help me. In the afternoon my mother, who is not a Christian Scientist, said she would not wait any longer, and sent for a doctor. For a little while I was very much alarmed. Then I prayed for guidance and protection, and was directed to call the practitioner and tell her what had taken place. Her voice was filled with love for God as she confidently told me that God was all about me and that there was nothing to fear. She further stated that when the doctor arrived, I would not need him. I left the telephone knowing that I would not go back to bed any more, and prepared myself to have dinner with the family. After this a quietness and calm came over my being. The abscess had broken. I called my mother and she came running to me. Her eyes could hardly believe what she saw. Just then the doorbell rang, and one of the members of my family greeted the doctor, saying, "This was a race between you and Christian Science, but Christian Science won."
I am very grateful for a more harmonious condition in the home. Where error of every sort once seemed to be, there is now more love, kindness, and patience. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church. I am grateful to God and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, and to the kind and patient practitioners who help us through these trials.—(Miss) Hester L. Leitz, New Orleans, Louisiana.
