The testimonies in The Christian Science Journal...
The testimonies in The Christian Science Journal and Christian Science Sentinel have always been a source of great joy to me, and I wish to add my testimony to the abundant store.
During my junior year in high school I met with an accident which resulted in a deep gash in my throat. To mortal sense this was serious because the jugular vein was exposed. I was taken to a doctor, who felt the necessity of closing the wound with stitches. Members of my family were notified of the accident, and work was taken up for me in Christian Science. I was beautifully protected, for although at first I was very faint, this condition passed almost instantly. Even during the time that the stitches were being put in I experienced no pain, much to the surprise of the doctor and those around me. I was told that my face and jaw would be very stiff for many days, but they were not. The stitches were removed a few days later, and one week from the day of the accident I was awarded first place in a state declamation contest. Christian Science treatment was continued until the healing was complete.
I have had many other beautiful healings through the application of the truth, for which I am very grateful, some as a result of my own work and others as a result of the work of practitioners. Some of these include healings of colds, headaches, an infected foot, depression, bad temper, restlessness, and impatience. Above all, however, I am grateful for the sweet sense of peace, joy, and confidence which I have gained since I have learned of my indissoluble, perfect unity with my Father-Mother God. I am learning that only as I love can I demonstrate this unity. Mary Baker Eddy has written in "Pulpit and Press" (p. 4), "You have simply to preserve a scientific, positive sense of unity with your divinesource, and daily demonstrate this." In Science and Health (p. 571) she says, "The cement of a higher humanity will unite all interests in the one divinity." I am learning that only as I daily demonstrate the perfect unity which exists between the perfect creator and the perfect creation can I help to prove that "all interests" are united "in the one divinity."
