A few years ago I was stricken...
A few years ago I was stricken with a nervous breakdown in a severe form; it not only was a mental upheaval, but also included many distressing physical complications, including stomach disorder and insomnia. As a medical nurse I knew some outstanding physicians in Chicago, and turned to them for help. Although they were kind and tried to do all they could, yet they were all at a loss as to what means to apply to heal me; in fact, one of the doctors told my sister that my case was hopeless.
I had spent many months in this state. One day I was walking the streets, not knowing where to turn or what to do next, and actually contemplating suicide, when the thought came to me, Why not try Christian Science? I had heard of it, although I did not know much about it. I walked into the office of a practitioner who was unknown to me, and related my story. She lovingly took up work for me, and in two days I was able to eat and retain all my food. (The doctors had tried for months to accomplish this one thing alone, with no results.) In two weeks I was completely healed of the entire malady.
I have also been healed of a bad temper, which I had had since childhood, and of smoking. Extreme sensitiveness has been overcome to some extent, and I am daily becoming more loving and compassionate toward others. As grateful as I am for the wonderful physical healings, I am much more grateful for the mental regeneration that is taking place in my consciousness daily. I am also very grateful for membership in The Mother Church and for class instruction.—(Miss) Tanya Mandelson, Chicago, Illinois.
